Hello! I have some news so thought a wee announcement might be in order.
First up, NEW WRITINGS.
While on a hugely enjoyable trip to Sri Lanka in September this year, I began writing a new chapbook. There’s a lot of work to do on this one, especially since I have written more draft poems for my experiences out there than I have for most other chapbooks. In fact, I could probably squeeze it all into a volume of three if given the chance. But I won’t – there is much editing to do.
With everything else on my schedule, I reckon we should be looking at a publication date in the first quarter of next year.
Next thing to mention is the POETRY SUPERHIGHWAY FREE-FOR-ALL 2015.
In years gone by I have been involved with all of the special projects run by Rick at the Poetry Superhighway (PSH), but with my downtime of late and demise of the Ranfurly Review, it has all passed me by.
So with the recent revival of my work through the Sri Lanka chapbook, I have decided to take part on this years Free-For-All on 1st December. I have submitted two chapbooks in e-book format (one of which is my new one so it’s a great chance to save some cash!). The e-books are:

I’ve got a new book coming out. The title might give it away: LIVING LEITH.
It’s a smallish collection of observational, satirical, and humorous poems about the people and the place that is Leith, Edinburgh in Scotland. Written from an “outsiders” point of view, it contains some of my best work yet and I’m VERY excited about it.

My kids’ poetry book, SILLY POEMS FOR WEE PEOPLE, has been given an external revamp.
As you may be aware (or not, as the case may be), SILLY POEMS is for sale in Edinburgh from the Edinburgh Bookshop in Bruntsfield Place. And it’s sold out!
Feedback from customers and the brilliant staff in the shop, indicated a redesign might even improve sales if one of the most popular characters from the book was brought out onto the front cover.

My new chapbook, POEMS FROM A COFFEE SHOP WINDOW, is now available as a downloadable ebook. Here’s the short blurb:
A collection of poems inspired by coffee. Written in the poet’s favourite coffee shop, this chapbook contains 36 poems about the observations inside and from the window of a coffee shop in Edinburgh, Scotland. If you like satirical or humorous poetry and coffee, this is most definitely your bag.
This particular book came about after I realised my obsession with writing poetry and drinking coffee often collided on a daily basis. It seemed pretty obvious after I recognised this fact, that I should actually sit down and try to put together a little book about it. The poems that were written were assembled over a few months sitting in my favourite coffee shop in Edinburgh. It’s about all the things I saw (inside and from the window), and about the people that work there or visit to hide away from life’s rumbling regularity. Some of the poems are plain silly, others deeply satirical, occasionally poignant but many are topical. I’m talking about the tram works I witnessed form the window, but which I could only write so much about.

Hello and good day, and all those other warm tidings that might cheer one up on a dour Tuesday afternoon on the east coast of Scotland.
My name is Chas Stramash. I’m a poet and I’m from Leith.
This site contains nothing but poetry. My poetry.
My poems have occasionally been described as “observational”, “Milliganesque”, “hilarious”, and “reflective”. In truth, though, I think my poems are just what they appear to be: poems about life; poems about being human.

As you join me, I have so far published three books of poetry:
FRINGE FANTASTIC is a humorous, satirical and irreverent, this 91-page chapbook of poetry and photographic images was written on the ancient cobbled streets of Edinburgh during the month-long fringe festival celebrations.
POOLSIDE POETRY is a collection of observational and humour-laden poems, looking at the daily torment and struggle of what it is to be Scottish, pale, and living under a the 100 degree sun of a hot Mediterranean country (in this case, Cyprus).
SILLY POEMS FOR WEE PEOPLE is my first collection of children’s poetry (for ages of about 5 to 9), that was first published in 2010 but re-published as a fully illustrated edition in December 2011. It’s perfect for children who love to read or be read to.
I have, however, written much more, and have plans to release a further four books in the next few months.
